A winner is expected in nome early the week of. The day before the historic race officially begins, mushers and their dogs trot along the easiest and most casual 11 miles they’ll see in the coming days for the iditarod ceremonial start in downtown anchorage that begins at 4th avenue, goes down cordova street, to the chester creek trail and into campbell airstrip.
On The Following Day, Sunday, Mushers Will Again Line Up For The Restart In Willow.
The smallest field ever of only 33 mushers will start the competitive portion of the iditarod sunday, march 5, 2023, in willow, alaska.
The Main Street Is Blocked Off And Transformed Into A Sled Dog Track.
At 2 p.m., the first teams will depart on their way to nome, leaving in 2 minute intervals until all of the teams have left.
